Lukas Figge
Lukas holds a bachelor degree in economics from the Maastricht School of Business and Economics, with an exchange semester at the Universidad del Pacifico in Lima, Peru. Thereafter, in 2011, he finished his master in public policy with a specialization in sustainable development at the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance. His final thesis was a governance analysis with respect to accountability and responsibility mechanisms for the case of the Niger Delta.
To complement his studies, Lukas has been active in the United Nations Student Association since 2007, which organizes and attends Model United Nations Conferences. Further, he was a board member of the DEMOS study association and student representative during his Master studies.
In December 2011, he started working at ICIS as a PhD researcher in the field globalisation, complexity and sustainability. The project will examine the sustainability of global changes and the dynamics of the global system through the lenses of complexity theory, chaos theory, panarchy and transition theory. Accordingly, it integrates ecological network analysis, complex adaptive systems and agent based modeling, and contributes to further develop the Maastricht Globalisation Index.
